For the whole month of December, and counting down to 2017, I shall be joining the (online) community, sharing one post a day of something I’m grateful for. From the teeny weeny tiny, to the life changing enormously great.
Meeting new people all the time, and what (or rather who) strikes me the most, are the ones who understand the difference between – a tad cliché but true – collecting experiences, rather than things.
Through adventures, going to the depths of the mine regions, social media, supermarket queues, and good ol’ serendipity, this year has brought some awesome individuals into my life. What connects us the most is experiences, rather than items.
After climbing Mt Kilimanjaro a few months ago, I couldn’t understand my frustrations readjusting to my “old life”. Somebody I met on the mountain was astonished that I wasn’t aware of what had happened. An internal shift in energy, mindset, and approach. “Watching the sunrise at the highest point in Africa is quite something, so people’s feeble attempt to impress with things, shall inevitably end in you being frustrated”…
If you’re reading this, and we have met or are about to meet IRL, hope you’ll now understand why your shiny supersonic Z-8-38-64 (second edition), is less exciting than that hiking trip you went on, to the Arctic…
